Many homeowners have worked with at least a few contractors in the past. Sometimes we find a good one, who we're more than happy to pass along to our friends and family. Other times, the contractors we hire show up late, are difficult to keep in touch with, temporarily pull off your project to start another, or feel it's acceptable to do shoddy work, leaving us with problems years down the road.

This leaves us wishing we had chosen our contractor differently. Drews Solar is a family business, where each project receives our full attention. I concentrate on site visits, system design, and installations, while my wife provides customer service and office support, ensuring your project moves along quickly and you can get your questions answered even if I am out on a job site.

We show up on time, are easy to contact throughout the process, we set realistic expectations with our customers, and never cut corners with our work. We treat each home like it were our own - our installations are clean and sleek, and we choose quality equipment that is highly-reliable and looks good on your home.
Services
Drews Solar specializes in rooftop, residential solar, serving the Madison area and surrounding counties.
Michael Drews started Drews Solar 2016.
After working in the solar industry for over a decade, Michael wanted to bring best practices from around the country back to his home state of Wisconsin.
Maria Drews joined Michael soon after, and together they run Drews Solar, along with a team of capable installers.
Drews Solar sells out each year but has decided to remain small, allowing Drews Solar to offer the highest quality installation with clear communication and a personal connection.
We specialize in residential rooftop solar installations.
We take care of everything, including working with your municipality and electric utility to permit and connect your system to the grid.
We typically schedule projects out at least 2 months and the installation takes a couple days to a week, depending on the size of your system.
Some years our schedule is fully booked by early summer, so please don't delay in letting us know if you would like to do a project this year.
We are based in Madison, Wisconsin and cover a large area of southern Wisconsin, including all of Dane, Sauk, Columbia, Jefferson, and Iowa counties and large parts of Rock, Green, Richland, Dodge, and Waukesha counties.
The Average System Pays For Itself in 10-14 Years.
And with the average system lasting 30-40 years, going solar now will provide your home with years of free power in the future.
See an Example Estimate for a Typical Home.
The best way to find out how much it would cost to add solar to your home is by requesting a free estimate on our website.
But seeing an estimate for a typical home may give you an idea of the cost of going solar at your own house.
The 2021 rebate for residential systems will be a maximum of $500, with a $500 bonus for these rural zip codes.
The solar array must meet several requirements, the two most important being the solar panels must be orientated within 90 degrees of due South and must receive 10% or less shading from nearby structures and/or vegetation.
After the system has been installed, you will receive the rebate in the mail in the form of a check.
You may claim the 26% credit on your income taxes for the year that the system installation was completed and commissioned by the utility.
We specialize in residential solar electric systems, fully designed, installed, and commissioned in Southern Wisconsin.
In an effort to keep our business simple and streamlined, and to offer our customers the best value for their dollar, we focus on residential solar electric systems.
If you're interested in a commercial-size project or a solar hot water project, this is a great place to start your search for a knowledgeable contractor.
